Western Union to set up office in Hakha

Western Union Money Transfer services will be available in Hakha, capital of Chin state from April 2014.

The company offices will be located at the Co-operative Bank (CB) premises in Hakha town. Now, it is installing internet and network services so that operations can begin within April.

A local woman told Khonumthung News that, “As Chin state is the poorest state in Myanmar, there are many Chin workers in foreign countries. If Western Union sets up an office in Chin state and can run operations relating to transfer and exchange of money between Chin state and abroad, it would be very helpful for the residents of the state. It will be a worthwhile development for the state.”

Meanwhile, Kanbawza bank, Co-operative banks, First Private bank, Myanmar Apex bank, Myanmar Livestock bank and Fisheries Development bank are operating in a limited fashion in Myanmar of late.
