‘We want to work with Kalay University and Wesley hospital’: CM Lal Thanhawla

Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla has attended Chapchar Kut, the biggest Mizo festival, at Tahan town on 6 and 7 April, and he has visited to Kalay University and Wesley hospital in Tahan, Kalaymyo, Sagaing region in Myanmar.

A statement from Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee said the festival organisers requested the Chief Minister to grace the festival as chief guest, which “proves the acceptance of Mr Thanhawla as the father of Mizo integration by Mizos ethnic tribes across the state and international boundaries.”

“As most of the Chin students are attending at Kalay University, I want to do joint venture with Education Department in Mizoram University,” said CM Lal Thanhawla, at the meeting with Professor U Than Win at Kalay University.

During his stay at Kalaymyo, CM Hawla visited Mizo-inhabited villages like Khampat, Kanan, Pyingkhung, Letpan Chhawng and Vaphai. He was received by large number of people.

CM Hawla also visited Wesley Hospital Methodist church where he spoke of plan to have exchange of knowledge.

Chief Minister was also met by Zomi Democratic congress party and Zomi Youth association who expressed their hope that the visit of former would earn for them more attention from the Myanmar government.

CM Hawla was accompanied during his visits by Dr. N. Nandakumar, Consul General of India, Lalbiakzuala, President of Central Yong Mizo Association (CYMA) and leaders of Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP).
