Chin League for Democracy party will open sub-offices in most townships in Chin state




“We are ready to open our party offices in Mindat and Kanpalet town and have selected five persons as committee members, but we cannot say when the offices will be opened. After the party conference, the programme of opening party offices in different townships will be taken up immediately,” said U Ngai Sang, CLD Chairman to Khonumthung.  Besides, party offices will be opened in Thantlang town, northern Chin state, Tamu town, Sagaing region and Am town in Arakan state by the chairman.

Meanwhile, the party has been trying to qualify as a political party by having at least 1,000 members within three months as per the norm set by the Union Election Commission.


In the ensuing 2015 general election in Myanmar, CLD will contest not only in Chin state, but also in Kalay, Tamu in Sagaing region and Arakan state, he added.


The headquarters of Chin League for Democracy (CLD) is located in Yangon city. A branch office was opened in Matupi, second capital of Chin state on 10 September, 2014 with 50 party members.

CLD was registered as a political party on 15 July 2014 under the Union Election Commission and is the seventh Chin political party.
